Audits and Certifications
Pacific Direct can demonstrate the quality of its products and working environment by several certifications and audits.
In addition to the ISO 9001 certification, which Pacific Direct reached in 2004,and which was recertified in the year 2007 with the extension of the certification validity till the year 2010 based on an annual audit by the Lloyd's company, Pacific Direct has recently obtained more attestations supporting the highest quality of his products.
Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
It is an obligation of each and every European manufacturer of
cosmetic products to follow the good manufacturing practice (GMP).
GMP is group of requirements for correct procedures, hygiene and
quality rules applicable to cosmetics production. As there is no EU
Community law establishing good manufacturing practice for cosmetic
products, manufactures can follow for example the 'Guidelines
for Good Manufacturing Practice of Cosmetic Products' (GMPC),
issued by the Council of Europe.
Pacific Direct is dedicated to strict adherence of these procedures, according to the new international standard ISO 22 716, published at the end of 2007. Pacific Direct is certified by the worldwide recognized company Bureau Veritas.
By this step Pacific Direct joined several more companies in Europe that are accountable to meeting the highest demands for a quality manufacturing environment. This includes the highest standards of employee training, product safety, hygiene and sanitation and finished product quality. A verification audit is performed annually to ensure these parameters are maintained in the long term.
Ethical audit
Pacific Direct has decided to demonstrate not only the quality of products, but also the working environment and working conditions relating to their manufacture. Pacific Direct has therefore joined Sedex, the Supplier Ethical Data Exchange, which is a London based not-for-profit membership organisation for businesses committed to continuous improvement of the ethical performance of their supply chains.
An audit within the Sedex criteria has been carried out, intended to ensure accountability and transparency for all stakeholders and customers and to meet the ethical objectives of the organisation. The ethical audit further enables capture of the company's ethical profile from a truly objective viewpoint.
Carried out by Intertek company in December 3rd, 2008. Pacific Direct passed with high scores and consequently two non-compliant points were identified and immediately corrected.
Our customers that are also members of the Sedex organisation can access our audit data directly at the Sedex website. We would be delighted to provide the full audit report to those parties that are not Sedex members.
Ecocert
In 2008, Pacific Direct was audited by
Ecocert, an international renowned company based in France who set
standards of certification for manufacturers. Ecocert focus
on promotion of organic products through a number of controls and
certification activities. Our production procedures and environment
have been found in conformity with the strict Ecocert standards for
Ecological and Organic Cosmetics.
On those bases, Pacific Direct can manufacture products, whose
ingredients and formulations are certified as able to manufacture
the Ecocert criteria for either "Ecological cosmetics"
or "Ecological and Organic cosmetics"
Eco-cert accreditations can apply to ingredients, formulations (eg. the whole liquid fill of a shampoo), the packaging or the product as a whole sum of these parts. Some of the ingredients we have developed for the new Eco Boutique collection which is due to be launched in September, 2009.
