Pacific People: Bernd Edward Drechsel
Born in Mannheim, Germany and raised in Manhattan, NY (Dad American /Mum German) Bernd travelled extensively with his family as a youngster. Often living only in hotels, at a young age Bernd found his life's ambition - to work in hospitality.
After attaining his high school diploma in 1988, Bernd decided to start a two year apprenticeship at a German five star hotel in Mannheim. Here he learned the hard way, what it means to create a five star feeling for the customers.
Throughout his career Bernd has worked in hotel F&B departments, taken his hotel business diploma at the Hotel Business School in Heidelberg and worked for Intercontinental Hotel Frankfurt and Grand Hotel Esplanade.
His experience also includes a sales and marketing background for KFP Medialine and then PSAV - both audio-visual suppliers to hotels. More recently Bernd worked for ADA Cosmetics were he was responsible for the Export business.
A meeting in the UK last year with Lara Morgan, convinced him to come and work for Pacific Direct and here we are today . . . and congratulations to Bernd who was married three months ago!
