Pacific Direct launches The Pacific Promise

Published: 28 July 2011

It will come as no surprise to global hoteliers that demand for ecologically responsible toiletries & amenities is soaring. With guests becoming increasingly ingredient-aware, and more conscious than ever about their carbon foot print and impact on the planet, they are more often than not looking to the luxury travel & hospitality industry to foot the bill and provide so called “green” solutions. And it’s not just the planet they’re concerned about. The post-recessionary times we face have heralded a new era of austerity and reassessment of values, with many now placing a higher premium on personal health rather than wealth. The organic food revolution of the early part of the century now looks set to trickle down to the cosmetics industry. If I wouldn’t put it in my body, why put it on my hair or skin?

But although the trend is clear, the solutions unfortunately are not. All too often, poorly defined terms and labels are used interchangeably without firm understanding of the relevance or significance which serves only to create “noise” in the category and confusion for both the guest and the hotelier. What exactly is the difference between Organic and Natural? Are parabens harmful to the guest or the environment? And perhaps most crucially, does being “green” have to come at the expense of luxury?

At Pacific Direct, we don’t believe so. We are as passionate about creating extraordinary luxury experiences for the guest as we are about protecting the environment. And we’re committed to providing clarity and transparency to our customers to enable them to select the right solutions to meet their needs and minimise the impact of the global hospitality industry on the planet. We understand the role that innovation has to play in relentlessly seeking newer & better solutions, and if necessary developing bespoke products to delight our customers and their guests. That’s why we’ve developed The Pacific Promise. It’s our pledge to the industry and a mark of our commitment. So whenever you see the green ‘P’, you can trust that it’s more than just a stamp of ecological awareness. It’s a symbol of quality, integrity, and responsibility.
